Game Day Ref Coordinators (GDCs)

Qualifications:

o At least 4 years of experience playing or refereeing soccer
o At least 15 years old or in high school
o WA State Referee Certification Grade 8, or similar knowledge of the Rules of the
Game
o Maturity to make show up on time and to make game day decisions
o Confidence to speak to Coaches who may demonstrate unsporting behavior


Responsibilities:


o Communicate promptly with Head Ref Coordinator regarding scheduling
o Give Head Ref Coordinator as much knowledge as possible if can’t keep
scheduled days, preferably at least 1 week ahead.
o Be familiar with the U8 and U9 Modified Rules.
o Attend and assist at Junior Ref training session
o Arrive at field on Game Days at least 20 minutes early to assist coaches with field
set up (not physically, but if they have questions). Remind them that if there are
unsporting parents or coaches, you have the responsibility to report it to the
LCSC board.
o Assign Junior Refs to fields
o Check Junior Refs in/out
o Hand out and collect laminated RULE REMINDER cards
o Oversee that games begin on and end on time
o Be available for Junior Refs if assistance is needed with unsporting
Coaches/Parents.
o Report to the Head Ref Coordinator attendance of the Referees.
o Report to the Board or Head Ref any problems that arose.
